Bachelor in Accounting and taxation

The number of vacancies in the domain of accounting currently exceeds the number of qualified candidates who could potentially occupy these positions. In order to have access to the job of certified public accountant the candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree.

The Bachelor in Accounting and taxation is organized in partnership between:

  • École de Commerce et de Gestion - School of Business and Management (ECG)
  • University of Luxembourg
  • University of Luxembourg Competence Centre.

The program trains young graduates wishing to work for an auditing company or an accounting firm and allows the degree holder to become a corporate accountant. Furthermore, the degree provides access to the career of certified public accountant. In order to become a certified public accountant, the graduate has to complete a traineeship of three years with a fully qualified certified public accountant and pass a final exam.

The students start off their studies at BTS level. They need to submit an application to the ECG.

At the end of their first year of studies (at the end of the second semester), they have to decide whether they want to pursue their studies on a BTS level or if they want to apply for the bachelor’s degree.

  • The students who remain in the BTS program complete a 3rd semester at the ECG and do an internship in the 4th semester.
  • The students who choose to take the bachelor’s degree, complete their 3rd semester at the University of Luxembourg (Campus Belval). The courses of semester 4 are organised abroad (exchange program). For the courses of semester 5, the students return to the Campus Belval in Luxembourg. In semester 6, the bachelor’s degree ends with an internship, supervised by the University of Luxembourg.

cours BTS et Bachelor

The students who intend to take the bachelor’s degree have to submit their application to the University of Luxembourg at the end of the first year of the BTS program. After enrolling, they are no longer considered students of the BTS program and will receive a bachelor’s degree at the end of the third year of studies (end of semester 6).

It is also possible to apply for the bachelor’s degree after successful completion of the BTS program. The students will pursue their studies at the University of Luxembourg in semester 3.
